Outdoor Spaces

All parents today know the value of outdoor play. At Lefroy Road we are fortunate to have one of the largest outdoor play areas for a childcare centre in the Fremantle-Melville area.

Our three separate outdoor areas (Nursery, Playgroup and Kindy) are securely set back from the main road and largely naturally shaded by gumtrees. Our grounds are mostly grass and mulch. We like to think that this means that when the children are playing outside, they are getting as many of the benefits of nature as possible, whilst living in the city suburbs.
​Our staff encourage the children to get outside as much as possible, whatever the weather!

Our Nature Playground

We were lucky enough to secure funding from Lottery West to upgrade our outdoor pay areas in 2019. A nature based playground was designed to tie in with the existing trees and and natural environment. This was to reflect the centre's philosophy of encouraging children to play outside and keep active, whilst allowing them to stimulate and engage their imaginations and senses with a variety of artfully designed nature-based environments.  

The works were completed in July 2019 and the playground was officially opened by Hon. Simone McGurk, State Member for Fremantle in November 2019. The children have loved exploring the new climbing areas, water features, balance beams, cubbies and all the rest!
